How the National Guard Helps Employers

Recruit Guard Members and Veterans

 

Every state National Guard command helps employers in several ways to hire Guard members and veterans. This 18 minute excerpt from an AJAH webinar features Brigadier General Kenneth A. Beard, Assistant Adjutant General of the North Carolina National Guard. He describes the comprehensive approach taken by his team to help place Guard members and veterans with civilian employers.

Brigadier General Kenneth A. Beard assumed duties as the Assistant Adjutant General for Sustainment, in May 2013. In this capacity, he is a principal advisor to the North Carolina Adjutant General for sustainment operations. Brigadier General Beard was commissioned in 1983 through the Simultaneous Membership Program at North Carolina State University’s Reserve Officers’ Training Corps completing a degree in Zoology in 1984. His previous military assignments include Firing Battery, Field Artillery Battalion, and Field Artillery Brigade Command, as well as various staff positions at all levels. Brigadier General Beard’s most recent assignments include G1, North Carolina Joint Force Headquarters and the Chief of the Collective Training Division for Joint Staff, J7 in Suffolk, Virginia.
